WINTER SOLSTICE 2025 Ritual

Though we have walked through the season of reflection and release, Autumn. It’s natural to be thinking of the new year which may have you still feel the pull toward review. I’ve prepared some journal prompts to support your journey and entrance into the New Year through the gates of the stars’ alignment, Solstic.

The magic of Solstice holds the power of reinvention, inviting us to dream into being who we are becoming.

If you’re seeking a Solstice self-ritual, this practice is here for you. Set aside a quiet moment today or tomorrow to explore these prompts while listening to this music: [click here]

Honoring the Winter Solstice Through Sacred Space

The Winter Solstice invites us to create sacred spaces that fill our hearts with meaning, reconnect us on a spiritual level, and relax our bodies. It awakens a deep remembrance within our bones, responding to these gestures of reverence and celebration.

Creating Your Altar
To honor the themes and symbols of the Solstice, design an altar in the colors of sunshine or pure white. White represents the North, a place of wisdom and stillness, while yellow celebrates the return of the sun. Reflect on your ancestors and the traditions they may have included in their ceremonies.

Begin by laying an altar cloth of your chosen color. Add candles for the sacred fire, crystals, and other meaningful objects that represent the sun, snow, or reflections of nature.

Special Elements to Include
There are two elements I love to add to my Solstice altar:

  1. Bowls of spices and sugar as offerings to my ancestors, honoring their spirits and the wisdom they pass down.

  2. Tokens for the faeries, such as candies and glitter, paying homage to the Fae. Winter seems to be a time when the Fae come out to play, perhaps because we spend more time indoors, leaving the forests and glens free for their mischief and joy.

This magical season reminds me of how our modern Santa Claus may trace his origins to the faery realms and shamanic traditions. In tribal communities, shamans would drop bags of medicinals and food down the chimneys of snowbound huts—a story rich with mystery and lore (but that’s for another time).

Calling in Your Guides
Once your altar is complete, invite your benevolent and protective guides to join you. Light a stick of incense and a candle to mark the sacredness of this moment. Let their presence hold you as you turn to the journaling suggestions below.

Through these rituals, may you find the magic of the Winter Solstice and the wonder of sacred self-reconnection.

Solstice Reflections: Who have you been?

✨List 5-7 things that stood out for you in 2024.

Of those, identify three that you can pat yourself on the back for, and tell yourself why.

✨What stories are you ready to burn in the fires of the Solstice—stories that no longer define you? *This may take a minute or you might know exactly what skins you are shedding like the snake. Write them on a paper that you or you might create an art piece to represent these stories. Burn either for the potency of ritual and declaration.

Good job. Now, take a few deep breaths, and as you exhale, let the sound flow out naturally. If you’ve been sitting, stand up and tap gently on your chest, then shake your body to release any lingering energy. Raise your arms high and swing them down with the intention of clearing. Jump up and down, shaking off the old layers, allowing them to fall away with ease and grace.

Continuing…

✨What stories of your 2024 fuel and inspire you?

✨How can you see yourself through the eyes of spirit, your ancestors, and those who adore you?

✨Name five qualities you love about yourself.

Now, let’s step across the threshold into dreaming your 2025:

On a new sheet of paper answer these questions. (Or again you are welcome to paint or draw your answers.)

🕯What are five things you’d like to do, be, create, or experience in 2025?

🕯What possibilities would you like to open up for you? Write about them in terms of their energy, feelings, and the attributes they will bring to your life.

🕯Who and what would you like to co-create with?

Fold this writing or art piece and place it on your altar or in an envelope. Put in a special spot to revisit either at the threshold of Summer solstice or in a year’s time.

This is a time, the winter months, to swim among the stars, listen to the storytelling of our elders, and honor the wisdom of our earth.

Solstice invites us to embrace the dark, to find the warmth of the divine within, and to reconnect with the beauty and intelligence of our intuition. You are magic, a source, and made of miracles. I see you.

Take a moment in the darkness today to light a candle and simply be still with yourself. Allow the quiet to cradle you and reveal the gifts you carry within.

Many, many blessings sent down from our cosmos, or benevolent sky nations, our loving galactic families for you this Winter Solstice. In gratitude for you, Amber Jane
